IndiGo Increases Fuel Charges Due to Rising Aviation Turbine Fuel Costs

IndiGo, one of India’s leading airlines, has announced an increase in fuel charges for all domestic and international flights, effective October 6, 2026. The airline attributes this decision to a significant rise in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices, which have surged more than 14% month-on-month recently, impacting operating expenses across the aviation industry.

For domestic travelers, the revised fuel charges will now range from ₹375 for flights up to 500 km, scaling up to ₹1,300 for journeys over 2,000 km. Specific charges for flights include ₹600 for distances up to 1,000 km, ₹900 for 1,001–1,500 km, and ₹1,150 for routes extending to 2,000 km.

International flights will see a fuel charge of ₹1,000 for SAARC routes up to 500 km and ₹3,000 for longer SAARC routes. Flights to destinations in Southeast Asia, the Gulf, the Middle East, North Asia, and East Asia will incur a charge of ₹5,500, while flights to Africa will have a ₹6,000 charge, and those to Europe will face a ₹10,000 charge.

IndiGo’s adjustment aims to partially counterbalance the increased operational costs without heavily burdening passengers. The airline has indicated that it will continue to monitor fuel prices and market conditions to assess any further adjustments necessary.
