In a bid to bolster economic collaboration, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently engaged in discussions with Finland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Riikka Purra, as well as the country’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Sakari Puisto. These meetings aimed to fortify trade and investment relations between the two nations, focusing on critical sectors poised for future growth.
The conversations centered on expanding partnerships in areas such as digitalisation, innovation, and research and development. Both parties expressed a keen interest in fostering startup ecosystems and enhancing business partnerships. Additionally, they explored potential collaborations in cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, 6G, quantum technologies, and semiconductors, as well as initiatives related to space and sustainability.
A significant topic of discussion was the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union. Both countries deliberated on how this agreement could serve as a catalyst for increasing bilateral trade, attracting investment, and creating new business opportunities.
