Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Monday that the Delhi government is set to initiate a comprehensive welfare and infrastructure initiative, Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning September 17. This month-long campaign is designed to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service and will entail the unveiling and foundation-laying of projects valued at approximately ₹13,800 crore across Delhi.
The campaign will encompass a variety of activities, including blood donation camps, health screenings for senior citizens, and sanitation efforts, alongside Yamuna-cleaning drives. Additionally, the initiative will facilitate registration for government welfare schemes across all 70 assembly constituencies. Notably, a significant blood donation camp is scheduled for September 17, aiming to collect 2,500 units, with the government also advocating for organ donation and organizing health camps for the elderly.
In terms of infrastructure, the campaign is poised to introduce projects worth around ₹8,000 crore specifically related to the Yamuna. The government will also recognize the contributions of over 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers during this period. The initiative is set to engage students and young individuals in approximately 5,000 schools through programs that include painting and speech competitions, as well as an innovation challenge aimed at generating ideas for a developed India.
The Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan will see significant investments across various sectors. Projects include ₹8,000 crore allocated to the Delhi Jal Board, ₹2,800 crore to Public Works Department (PWD) projects, ₹1,500 crore earmarked for power-sector initiatives, ₹365 crore for irrigation and flood-control efforts, and ₹77 crore directed towards tourism projects.
