PM Modi Highlights Innovation’s Role in Shifting Carbon Responsibility from Developing Nations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments underscore the often-misplaced blame on developing nations for global carbon emissions, highlighting India’s commitment to combating climate change. By emphasizing India’s low per capita emissions compared to the global average, Modi positions India as an exemplar in responsible environmental stewardship.

During the International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” in New Delhi, Modi outlined India’s achievements in renewable energy, pointing out that the nation met its Paris Agreement climate targets ahead of schedule. This commitment is demonstrated through significant growth in non-fossil fuel capacity, particularly in the solar energy sector.

The event, organized by the National Green Tribunal on September 19 and 20, gathered diverse stakeholders, including judges, government officials, and environmental experts from India and abroad. The conference aims to address pressing environmental issues, focusing on policy implementation gaps, environmental justice, and institutional cooperation for enhanced climate action.

Over two days, four technical sessions are being held to explore key environmental challenges and develop strategic approaches to future climate dynamics. This initiative reflects India’s proactive stance in fostering international dialogue and collaboration to tackle global environmental issues.
