Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate from Kanpur, along with her father, Rakesh Singh, a former soldier, has traveled to Delhi to protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office. This move comes in response to the NTA’s dismissal of claims that Arya’s examination results were altered. The protest is part of a broader dispute involving multiple candidates who allege discrepancies between their results and their OMR answer sheets. The NTA has countered these allegations, stating that the images circulating on social media are not genuine and have been digitally manipulated or generated using artificial intelligence.
Arya Singh asserts that her NEET-UG 2026 re-examination score was unjustly changed post-announcement. Initially, she claims her score was displayed as 570 marks but was later revised to 167. Furthermore, Arya pointed out errors in the OMR sheet provided by the NTA, citing a missing question number and duplicate serial numbers. After she raised objections, she alleges that the NTA sent her another OMR sheet reflecting a score of 609 marks, further complicating the issue.
In light of these discrepancies, Rakesh Singh expressed dissatisfaction with the NTA’s explanations and vowed to continue their protest until they receive a satisfactory resolution. He has also reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to address what he describes as irregularities in the examination process. The NTA, however, stands firm in its denial of the allegations, maintaining that the original OMR sheets align with the declared scores and are safeguarded by secure identifiers such as barcodes and QR codes.
This controversy traces back to the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination held on June 21, following the cancellation of the original exam in May due to allegations of a paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the case. As the situation unfolds, Arya Singh and her father remain determined in their quest for clarity and justice, highlighting ongoing concerns about the integrity of the examination process.
